LITTLE TIPS TO KEEP UP WITH YTT

Yoga Teacher Training Programs are the easiest way to reach yoga philosophy, history of yoga, pranayama techniques, human anatomy and asana alignments. They are usually very intense programs and many students find it difficult to keep up which was also my concern during the course. Either you’re beginning yoga with a YTT or an experienced student or already a yoga instructor, here are some tips to help you keep up with your study;


  1. Leave your knowledge behind before starting. Imagine learning a new foreign language; it is not the talent that helps you to learn but your “curiosity”. You can’t be curious if you already think that you know something about the topic. Keeping the beginners mind will help you to absorb knowledge.

  2. Lesson is learned in class. Try to attend the class as much as you can. We’re working really busy regarding the life conditions. Some of us work, some of us study or some of us are busy with family but make an appointment with yourself and make space for your area of interest. You won’t regret it after feeling the unity of the beautiful energies of your classmates which will encourage you to ask questions and participate during the lesson.

  3. Repeating the notes before the next meeting. Commonly known mom’s advice during school years! Yes, it works! Just a glance at the notes will help you expand the knowledge.

  4. Rewriting by your own words. You will be learning many new vocabulary in Sanskrit. The easiest way to remember all those is the studying by writing and taking notes by your own words or in your native language (if you’re taking the course in a foreign language).

  5. Putting into practice. The definition of learning is “gaining a mental or physical grasp of the subject”. You will need to do both during a YTT. Try to apply the philosophy, breath work, meditation, asana practice into your daily life. You don’t need to perform all of them like an athlete who is getting prepared for a competition but you will be your own competitor during this journey.


Yoga, unites. You will be uniting with new friends. Enjoy every moment of your course and observe your transformation with joy.
